mind controlled pinball: the berlin brain-computer interface group is currently presenting a live demonstration of their brain- controlled pinball machine at the CeBit exhibit in hannover, germany. the project features a user wearing a specially designed cap with eeg technology embedded within it to measure brainwaves. the user first undergoes a training program to calibrate the machine to their brainwaves. ‘while the player imagines left and right hand movements, algorithms decode his brain activity signals in realtime into control signals for the pinball machine’. once they have mastered the training regime, they are hooked directly to the pinball machine. there, their brainwaves are linked to the left and right paddles so they can play the game without using their hands at all.

Now if it could keep the ball from sinking down the side…

7th time seeing the Avetts tonight. Will go down as my least favorite through no fault of the band. This venue blows…

What, the 400? Last time I saw them it was at the Fine Line and that was frat boy central. Hard to imagine a worse place unless they’ve outgrown even 1st Ave for the State. We hate it when our faves get too popular though, eh? I remember seeing Rev. Horton Heat and/or Neko Case in the Entry and Sharon Jones at the 400. Those were the proverbial Halcyon days.

The Top Ten Untruths of Creativity →

Thank you Tom Lichtenheld! This past VCU Brandcenter Friday Forum was awesome.

Short, sweet, and to the point, here are the nuggets of wisdom Tom left with us.

(Remember, these are untruths)

1. Creativity needs complete freedom to thrive.

2. Ideas always rule over execution.
