My "Seinfeld" post
A post about nothing. No one’s had any good content for me to reblog about (bastards!) and I’m waaaay too busy to come up with anything original on my own.
How The Hell Did This Happen? →
Not really. I bet this has more to do with Circuit City going under and people having, what, 500 less locations to buy things at. Even with the CC liquidations going on (which by all means was a fire sale at marked up then discounted prices), people still wanted to buy things with a warranty they knew would be backed up. I’d expect BBY sales to rise next quarter as well for the same reason.

yeah, I have to take breaks. otherwise it’s like gandhi’s flip flop.

My crazy rare chance to meet Merlin, one of my web heroes.

Jonathan Coulton & Merlin Mann by CC Chapman
Increasingly, I’m not so big on the, “Here’s me with somebody you’ve maybe heard of” photos, but I really like this one (nice work, C.C.!)
Amongst the many “Hey, That’s Terrific…That One Thing You Do…” relationships I’ve kinda fallen into with people I’ve met through the...

Pretty damn sweet. I’m modeling mine like this - quick on the fly notes. Totally killer.
Yay for old b00bs! →
Man, I remember going down to the Downtown Mpls Public Library to look at the first issue of Playboy on a film reel. Now, finally, available on the interwebz.
I’ve been waiting for the 60s box set for a looong time though. The first one sold like crap - I was seeing it in Half Price Books for less than half price not long after it came out, which was what, 2 years ago? Too bad their...
It's so true
And what pretty much spells the end of the long form blog. IMO. We really have turned into a nation of sound bytes.

The modern conundrum: what makes my link blog different from my Twitter different from my Tumblr different from my Facebook stream?
White Wine of the Day
Did I get a different Facebook? b/c I can’t tell that much of a difference. Certainly not enough to me mad at it.

I hate the new Facebook layout. I used to be able to get in, do my stalking, and get out without wasting too much time and now my stalking time has been doubled. I dont know where shit is, who’s fucking whom, who added new pics, etc. FU Fagbook

Please to be reading this and notice the quote from Mark Avnet - the head of my Creative Technology track at VCU.

On my way to Austin for SXSW interactive
Who else is going? Gonna have loads of crazy fun.
This last minute stuff kills me
Business cards. We came up with a better idea. And we just ran out of ink. And we have to print off color copies at school in the AM and go to Kinkos to cut them. Plus, I still have to clean, pack and shower. Uff-da. I’ll sleep on the plane I guess.
Austin, here I come!

What to do with the 'do?
I washed out all the pomade last night and conditioned - both of which are supposed to help straighten it out. Nope. It looked as curly when I got out of the shower last night as day one. You’d think I’d be used to it by now. Nope. Still rediculous.
Now that it’s spring break, there’s time for a cut. Either get rid of the bulk in back and sides b/c that’s the worst...

I need to start following these rules because I was somehow born into the Cult of Do It Later.
The Cult of Done Manifesto
There are three states of being. Not knowing, action and completion.
Accept that everything is a draft. It helps to get it done.
There is no editing stage.
Pretending you know what you’re doing is almost the same as knowing what you are doing, so just accept that...

If you care about such things. I know the fonts are hard to read on this new layout - I’ll fix that after I get through this week and before I leave for SxSWi.
William Elliott Whitmore - Animals in the Dark
So far this is the album of the year. Which is good because I didn’t really have one last in ‘08. Strong and personal songwriting. Excellent voice - both in tone and spirit.
Looking for Tumblrs to follow
I’ve deleted about half of the small number of people I follow. I’m tired of endless photo posts about 1 thing. Anyone out there posting actual interesting content?
A.A. Bondy - American Hearts
So far the best record I’ve heard on my listening excursion. Solid songwriting and melodies. I’d see him live - great folkie sounds.
Eleni Mandell - Artificial Fire
Artificial enthusiasm.
The last track is a good rockin’ number. Too bad it was at the end. E for Eh-ffort.
My new career
A not really paying attention to what I’m hearing music critic.
Midnight at the Movies
The new Justin Townes Earle records is pretty good, other than a really misguided cover of Can’t Hardly Wait.
Like Crickets?
Then buy the new Neko Case record. It has a 31 minute track of them at the end of it. Pretty much sums up my reaction to the record too.
I’d be pissed if I paid .99 for that track.
You Know...For Kids
I made this. On a tape. I haven’t made one of those in years.

As a prelude to my new radio show on WVCW (start date TBD), I made a tape for the kid in all of us.
Side A:
Hello - Dan Zanes
Formerly of the Del Fuegos, Zanes is the patriarch of modern kids music. This might be the theme song to the show, I haven’t decided yet, but it’s so friendly and welcoming how can it...
